Steinel's BLS-T 'absence' detector is ideally suited to the classroom.  The lighting does not switch on until activated by the light-switch, it can then be switched off the same way or, if the room is left unoccupied, the BLS-T switches the lighting off automatically after the selected time.

An integrated photocell also switches off the lighting when there is sufficient daylight.  You can adjust the light level at which this happens to suit your needs.
